The National Resources Defense Council paints a dry and thirsty portrait of a world warmed by climate change: More than 1100 counties in the United States face higher risks of water shortages by 2050. With more than 400 of these counties placed at extremely high risk, your showerhead may be the front line ...

(Note: Image featured is our older model, but the nozzle is the same) The first thing you recognize about the HighSierra FCS-200 is its design. It isn’t very long and the width of it is no almost no bigger than the shower pipe connecting to it. From first glance, you know SOMETHING is going on with this showerhead. The first thing I thought was that this shower pour was going to be WAY too strong and and sting me ... I own two High Sierra Shower Heads and love them (see my review from last year here). Not only do these shower heads save me tons of water (only 1.5 gallons per minute!) but the pressure is amazing. Trust me, ALL that conditioner comes out of your hair with this shower head! Last year, I paid about $23 for each shower head so it’s very affordable. Although I had no complaints with the ones I purchased last year, the owner of the company decided to send me one of their improved versions for me to try out. Of course I was thrilled because I couldn’t imagine a better version of this shower head and was curious.

Seriously, how could perfection improve? (Note: Featured image is for old model, nozzle is the same) I have spent the last several weeks testing the HighSierra FCS-200 water saving shower head ; it costs about $25, provides a great shower experience, uses only 1.5 gallons per minute (GPM) and I highly recommend it. I have now done five low flow shower head reviews so far (sorry, no nude shower scenes in this one) and the HighSierra wins hands down on price and is a strong contender for the best feeling shower of those we have tried. High Sierra Showerheads in the News KSEE Chanel 24 News Too much water use at too low a cost is unsustainable. Unlike the vast majority of people on the globe, we take water for granted and expect clean, safe, and virtually unlimited quantities to meet our cooking, bathing, washing, and irrigating needs. While our long history of public water delivery may... San Francisco Chronicle Article: "High Sierra Showerheads inventor goes with flow amid drought"

While the California drought has devastated some farms and businesses, it has been a boon for High Sierra Showerheads. The six-person company, based in the tiny Madera County town of Coarsegold, uses a patented technology to make a 1.5-gallon-per-minute showerhead feel like a standard 2.5-gallon-per-minute model. "After Gov. Brown proclaimed that we were in a drought, we saw a huge increase in direct sales here in California," says founder David Malcolm, who adapted the low-flow showerhead from nozzles he and his father developed for water-saving agricultural and golf-course sprinklers ... Sierra Star Article: "A Thinking Man's Showerhead" Design engineer David Malcolm of Coarsegold has set out to make saving water as simple as it can be. "Everything I do is about conservation," Malcolm, 49, said. "All these nozzles I make -- it's all about using less water but accomplishing the goal of providing adequate water to the crop or grass or to your body." His invention, what he calls HighSierra Showerheads, use 40% less water than the average 2.5 gallon-per-minute, low-flow showerheads, and save 1,700 gallons of water per person annually.
