Barn Cat/Back Yard Buddy Program "Barn Cats" and "Back Yard Buddies" are feral, un-socialized, or free-roaming cats (also called "Community Cats") who cannot be placed in a home environment. Placing them as outdoor cats in barns, sheds, garages or other outdoor structures is a humane, practical alternative to euthanasia.Barn Cats and Back Yard Buddies discourage rodents, provide companionship for horses and other farm animals, and can live out their lives in relative security and comfort. If you can provide shelter, and a regular supply of food and water, a Barn Cat or Back Yard Buddy may be ideal for you. Most of our assets have been sold or donated.  Some larger furniture, and the can/bottle trailers and sorting sheds remain. Some items were donated to nonprofits, in particular the Humane Society of the Ochocos' thift shop in Prineville.  This shelter was the first and now remains the only no-kill shelter in Central Oregon and beyond.  

They made this commitment years ago in spite of their struggle with inadequate facilities and with being out of the way, and do not benefit from all the free media attention and local support that the two big shelters in Deschutes County enjoy.  Delta Shower Heads LowesThese big, newer shelters are NOT no-kill but certainly could make this a no-kill community, with their assets, resources and community support, if their directors felt this was important enough.Homes For Sale Quincy Ma Zillow We will be selling our 2 can/bottle trailers and the 2 sheds used for processing and storage of cans/bottles.  How To Fix Cracked Tub LinerWe would prefer to sell these as a package to an appropriate nonprofit for their own can/bottle program. 

This is a very steady source of income, but takes a small team to keep the trailers empty and to process the cans/bottles.  The recycling company provides the proper containers for sorting and picks up much of it.  (No one has to stand at the recycling depot.) The trailers can probably go back to where they were for years, as people are used to taking their cans/bottles there (Jake's Diner in Bend and Petco in Redmond).  People also would call to ask us to pick up large quantities from their homes, which we did often.  And some businesses are willing to act as drop-off locations.  Also, in the summer there are many outdoor events where the trailers are welcome and fill up fast on a weekend day.  All those nickels and dimes add up!  And in 2017, the deposit amount will be doubled per the State for most containers. If interested, please go by the property and take a look.  CRAFT information has to be removed from the trailers, but some of the cute cat artwork can remain.
