The abandoned canines were "very, very pregnant and ready to give birth" when three good Samaritans found them in early March, said Jamie Holeman of the Pasadena Humane Society. They had been roaming the streets of Pasadena and surrounding cities without any food or water. All were in the final stages of pregnancy, with one giving birth within 24 hours of being rescued.

"It had to be tremendously stressful for them," Holeman said in an interview on Friday. “One of the dogs that was brought here had a horrible infection. Had she not had that … care, she probably would have died.” The three border collie mixes delivered 14 puppies between them.

While the dogs didn't show any signs of abuse, dumping can be just as dangerous, Holeman warned. She noted the puppies could have died within days of being born. “Please do the responsible thing, either bring them to your local shelter or find someone who you know can take care of them," she said. "Do not dump them on the street. It’s dangerous for the dogs and it is cruel to them as well.”We want all of our “tails” to have a happy ending…. Find a Borador Breeder The Borador is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Border Collie and the Labrador Retriever. "Dozer the Border Collie / Lab mix (Borador) has the energy of the Border Collie and the bird hunting ability of the Lab. He is a great dog." Dozer the Border Collie / Lab mix (Borador) "This is Onyx, our Border Collie / black Lab mix as a puppy, when he first came home. He's now about 70 lbs. heavier. He is a great member of the family and very hyper. He loves to herd people and is very vocal, and now after Cesar Millan's Dog Whisperer, he is a much better listener." "Rex is a 3-month-old Labrador / Border Collie cross puppy. His mom was Border Collie, his father a black Labrador. He seems to have the temperament of a Labrador but all the energy of a Border Collie!! You wouldn't be able to tire him out! He loves to herd things, especially people!! He doesn't really get the game fetch like a Labrador. We'll just have to wait and see whether he turns out to be more like a Collie or a Lab!!"
