Source List: Modern Gold and Brass Fixtures for the Bathroom When I initially set out to create a roundup of sources for gold fixtures for the bathroom, I thought I would have a hard time locating any. Finding gold fixtures for your bathroom, it turns out, isn't hard: it's finding modern gold fixtures (ie, ones that don't look like they came directly from 1988) that is the difficulty. But they are out there, and I have hunted them down. Looking for inspiration for using gold and brass fixtures in your bathroom? Check out this post: → Look We Love: Gold Fixtures in the Bathroom Curious about where you can find fixtures like these? (Image credit: Per Jansson) 1. Scandinavians are always on the cutting edge. Danish manufacturer Vola is a great source for modern bath fixtures, and all their products, including accessories like towel bars and toilet paper holders, come in a huge array of colors, including natural brass. Vola bathroom fixtures are pictured up top (in a photo from ARC, paired with Made a Mano tile), and in the bathroom above (from Per Jansson via badrumsdrommar).

Waterworks' Henry series of lavatory faucets and shower and tub fittings comes in gold, unlacquered brass, and even copper. (Image credit: Rocky Mountain Hardware) 4. It's not often that I describe a faucet as 'sexy', but this case, it seems appropriate. This tub filler is from Rocky Mountain Hardware, which also has lavatory faucets and shower and tub fittings available in its 'Silicon Bronze Light' and 'Silicon Bronze Brushed' finishes. (Image credit: House to Home) 5. Kohler's Purist series of bathroom fittings (pictured above in a bathroom from House to Home) all come in 'Vibrant French Gold' (shiny) and 'Vibrant Moderne Brushed Gold' (a more matte look). 6. Dornbracht recently unveiled its new 'Cyprum' finish, which is a gorgeous rose gold. Their entire Mem bathroom series is available in this finish.

7. Delta's Trinsic (pictured above) and Vero collections both come in Champagne Bronze. (Image credit: Elizabeth Roberts) 8. These eye-catching gold fixtures, seen in a bathroom by Elizabeth Roberts, are from the 'Venezia' series by Fantini. 9. And if the prices of some of the faucets above have put you off a bit... this little guy, from Amazon, is only $59. Metal / Wood / Cotton Painted white composite wood / natural ashwood 8 x 9 1/2 x 24" (20.3 x 24.1 x 61 cm) Width: adjustable from 16 to 24” (40.6 to 61 cm) Height: 60” (152.4 cm) When architects Solveig Fernlund and Neil Logan undertook a gut renovation of a historic Brooklyn townhouse for a Swedish family, they turned to the classic hardware of Scandinavia, D Line. Manufactured in Denmark to exacting standards, the collection is the work of Danish architect and industrial designer Knud Holscher and remains much unchanged since the 1970s. “D Line is so common in Scandinavia, it’s almost generic,” adds Solveig, “but it’s very high quality.”

Throughout the house, Fernlund and Logan used D Line’s Lever Handle, one of the company’s bestsellers available in a range of sizes–”they’re used in the bathrooms in the Denmark airport,” says Neil. And in the clean-lined, stripped-bare master bath, they used D-Line’s elemental stainless steel handles, knobs, and toilet paper holder, introduced in 1970 in Denmark and still in production. Go to D Line to view the entire catalog and find a dealer near you. For US price quotes and orders, send a query to Ironmonger in Chicago, which carries the line. The door has a recessed Flush Pull Handle made of satin stainless steel by D Line of Copenhagen.

Above: To keep the bathroom light and bright, the architects used a clear glass shower wall and milk glass tiles from Urban Archaeology. (A caveat: the glass had knife-sharp edges and unexpectedly required laborious sanding.) The Raindance Showerhead is by German manufacturer Hans Grohe. The design went on to be much imitated: see our post 10 Easy Pieces: Modern Toilet Paper Holders for lookalikes.
