Things to Know Before Owning a French Bulldog French Bulldogs, affectionately called “Frenchies” by fans of the breed, are sturdy, stocky, and darling dogs with square heads and broad muzzles. These dogs usually have straight or corkscrew tails, with short and smooth coats. They are loved for their playful, enthusiastic, and lively personalities, though they do slow down in their old age. Frenchies can be white, brindle, fawn, gray or a mix of these colors. Known to be good companions to other dogs as well as to people, they often make excellent family dogs. They are also smart and headstrong pups who appreciate training and bonding with their owners. French Bulldogs can make wonderful apartment dogs due to their size and tendency to be mellow. Because of their short snouts, their weight should especially be kept in a healthy range or it could lead to difficulty breathing. Being short-haired dogs, basic grooming and cleanliness should suffice, although they are shedders. Overall, the French Bulldog and Frenchie mixes are easy-going, lovable companions!
