For someone who doesn't ride primarily at night but wants an upgraded light setup, this is for you. Works great for the money! Being budget minded it does a good job. Much brighter than the OEM lights! This is a great replacement bulb. Brighter than original at a good price.
I would buy again. I like the brilliance of the white light vs. yellow output of a stock headlight bulb but this bulb didn't even make it thru 6 months of riding before the bright setting burned up. Time to replace it before the dim setting fries also. Rating this poor and looking for a different manufacturer. I am not sure this bulb is any brighter than the stock for my royal star. I needed to replace one of mine as the low beam had burned out (bike is 14 years old), so I ordered these instead of OEM bulbs (price is only slightly higher). I replaced both headlights, and was immediately impressed with the much brighter light. Now to see how long they last... This is just a basic bulb thats coated! Its a great replacement due to the fact its not a modified bulb for performance-those bulbs are short lived! All you get is whiter light! This bulb delivered as advertised. Nice white broad beam. Good distance on high. Put one on my Lady friends bike and she was impressed. Needed a replacement when low beam burned out.

E60 exterior bulbs are monitored by the Light Module (LM), which also monitors adaptive headlight function (where equipped) and controls instrument panel dimming. LM is also capable of switching lighting functions in case of a fault.
For example, in case of a taillight bulb failure, brake light bulbs are used as a substitute. Bulb monitoring by LM is done both cold and hot (unlit or lit). In cold monitoring, LM sends brief current pulses to unlit bulbs to measure their resistance. The pulses are too short to illuminate bulbs but serve the purpose of evaluating whether an individual bulb or bulb circuit is defective. In hot monitoring, LM measures the current to individual lit bulbs to determine overload or a break in the circuit.
