Siberian Husky rescue has become a need as a result of many individuals obtaining Siberian Huskies from for-profit breeders or pet stores that do not provide the education and support required to raise these beautiful dogs. The Delaware Valley Siberian Husky Rescue, Inc. (DVSHR) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) dedicated to the placement of unwanted or abused or homeless Siberian Huskies in permanent loving homes. We are centered around Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with volunteers working throughout most of the Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, and Delaware region.DVSHR was founded by individuals from the Siberian Husky Club of Delaware Valley, Inc. These individuals were concerned for the well being of Siberian Huskies whose popularity had increased creating a profitable opportunity for puppy mill breeders. Given the lack of general public information on the breeds quirks and the irresistible cuteness of a Siberian puppy, the need for rescue became apparent as shelters received numerous dogs from illprepared owners.
The organization was incorporated in 1995 and registered as a Nonprofit 501(c)(3). The mission of the organization was set to find permanent homes for unwanted Siberian Huskies, provide public education on the breed, and assist Siberian owners in dealing with training issues.Designers Image Vinyl Floating Floor PlanksSince its beginning, there have been hundreds of dogs that have found permanent homes though the hard work of the volunteers. Our mission is to help preserve our beloved breed, the Siberian Husky, and to breed healthy, happy and beautiful dogs as close to the AKC Siberian Husky standard as possible. Since 1988 we have been blessed to have this wonderful breed in our lives and hope to continue our love affair with the Siberian Husky for many years to come. We have bred and owned Best in Show and Best in Specialty Show winners, as well as dogs that have achieved National Club recognition and Awards at the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club. Many of our puppies, dogs and veterans have had multiple Specialty wins. We have bred many Champions and Grand Champions and as well as titling our dogs in Obedience and Rally. Another special area of interest for us has been Rescue. Our first three Siberians were rescue dogs, one of whom went on to compete and finish titles in Obedience and was nationally ranked as one of the top 5 Siberians. We helped to found Delaware Valley Siberian Husky Rescue and did the 501c3 filing that entitled the group to function as a not-for-profit organization.
The primary focus of our breeding program is to breed for soundness in health and temperament. Every dog in our breeding program receives an annual eye clearance by a Board Certified Canine Opthamologist. In addition, the dogs are cleared for hip dysplasia by the Orthopedic Foundation of America and must rate excellent or good to be a part of our breeding program. Our dogs are first and foremost our family! They reside in the house and spend lots of time running, playing and hanging out in our yards. Puppies are whelped in a bedroom and raised with lots of attention and family involvement. Socializing puppies is a task that we take very seriously. Snocrest Siberians is an AKC Breeder of Merit. We are proud members of the Siberian Husky Club of America and as CPAs, we head the Club’s Audit Committee. In addition, we are approved Mentors for our National Club, which allows us to help educate individuals interested in judging the Siberian Husky. `We are members and Officers of our local breed club, the Siberian Husky Club of Delaware Valley, as well as being members of the Penn Treaty Kennel Club.
