Kawasaki Vacuum Cleaner

These rumors are getting absurd…This latest rumor and “wishful thinking” rendering comes from our favorite supercharged-addicted manufacturer: Kawasaki. And like the other Kawasaki rumors and concepts we’ve seen recently, it seems like they’re planning on adding superchargers to whatever they can, from the Z1000 to the office vacuum cleaner, it seems. Anyway, we showed off some recent concepts of a potential supercharged Z900. Now, that would be cool – in fact, it would be even cooler if they didn’t give it the forced induction treatment, but we rarely get what we really want, do we? And this latest rendering from Japan doesn’t really give us many hints as to what comes next, apart the name: “H2GT”. Perhaps Kawasaki are going to turn the legendary H2 engine into a platform, and take it in multiple directions, whilst retaining the same basic features? Plenty of other manufacturers are focusing on a “less engines, more models” approach, so it would only be natural for Kawasaki to follow suit – and since their supercharged campaign has been dominating headlines for the past two years, it seems like a supercharged Kawasaki platform has plenty of mileage.
If that’s the plan, the real challenges that Kawasaki will have to face are these: how can they offer the same H2 platform to a wider audience, reduce the price without the quality diminishing, and come up with new rider dynamic? Obviously, since the H2 and H2R are Kawasaki’s flagship models, they’re loaded with loads of extras that can be cut and replaced with cheaper units, and for sure the aesthetics can be watered down without it affecting the overall quality of the machine – but as for the new models on the platform? Where would you take it? Here, we can see the potential for a touring machine, with slightly higher handlebars and a revised saddle for longer slogs – and add in some touring boxes and you’re halfway there. The electronics package would have to be reprogrammed to rein the supercharged engine in a tad, lowering the peak torque, for example. In fact, a GT idea could be a very lucrative idea.If you had an H2 platform to play with, what would you do with it?
Following the press launch of the redesigned Kawasaki Concours 14, we got our hands on a longer-term test unit. Patio Furniture Route 110This is Part One in a series of reports on our testing of this powerful sports tourer from Kawasaki.Bengal Kittens For Sale Snow This past weekend we took a fairly long one day (roughly 150 miles) ride with a passenger aboard to test two-up comfort and handling. T-Shirt WonderwallOur passenger reported that the broad seat, together with a sensible foot peg placement, provided a nice perch for the pillion.  The only niggle is the gymnastics required of the passenger when boarding the machine due to the relationship between the passenger pegs and the saddlebags.  This is a bike on which you could take a longer trip with a passenger, without serious complaint.
Interestingly, the excellent wind protection offered by the adjustable windscreen was felt by the passenger, as well. We have to say, once again, that the redesigned, power windscreen installed by Kawasaki this year is one of the best, if not the best, we have experienced thus far. It creates a very comfortable, buffet-free zone of still air for the rider, and even benefits the passenger. Keep in mind that our test rider is approximately 5’11” tall, and the passenger is 5’2″. This trip also underscored how powerful the big Concours really is. With roughly 350 pounds of rider and passenger on board, the big Kawasaki shrugged it off. Acceleration and braking were hardly impacted by the extra load, as the bike remains extremely quick, both to accelerate and to stop. Interestingly, we noticed that the right rear view mirror buzzed slightly (still usable), while the left mirror was completely still at freeway speeds (70 mph +). The stiffer shock spring this year also kept things well-balanced.
Here, of course, the remote preload adjuster came in handy as we dialed in the extra preload necessary to handle a passenger. The bike continued to handle well, both in a straight line and through turns. We will have more to report soon. Both comments and pings are currently closed.
