This is the third grinder I've bought and setup. The first was a machine that cost four times as much, and while it flips on its side, it's in no way better than this machine. The second was a GIB (grinder in a box). While it seemed initially like a good deal, it cost nearly as much to finish before the motor and vfd as the Oregon Blade Maker Grinder. Plus, the Oregon machine didn't require time, hardware or tools to setup like the GIB. The paint makes clean up easier vs raw steel like my GIB machine. I keep a clean shop and like to control the dust created by grinding steel and handle materials. With the paint, the dust easy to vacuum off.The manufacturer even goes the extra mile by adding a warning label.Aligning a motor behind the grinder was easy as I simply aligned the foot of the 56c type motor with the back of the grinders base plate.

Belt changes are simple due to the properly spec'd gas piston, good handle and correct geometry of the tracking wheel arm. I'm constantly adjusting the belt across the face of the platen to adjust the cut on the steel and it's very smooth and precise. Once set it stays and doesn't wander back and forth (proper belts help with this).Angle adjustments and platen depth are simple to adjust. I really like the fact that the tool arms and the D plate are aluminum which make changing them much easier vs all steel setups. Aluminum in this case is more than strong enough for this application.The base of the grinder has a very small footprint for a full size machine. The base/frame are stout without weighing more than necessary.The second tool arm/tool arms are superior to my more expensive machine and the GIB.My business is in a state of growth and I will need to add more grinders soon. There is no other machine setup that I feel that is better spec wise, especially for the price. I just bought my 2nd set up ( grinder,tool rest,scribe ) from OBM.
