ALIVE  has many wonderful, loving cats and dogs available for adoption. To help them all find the new homes they deserve, we offer periodic adoption specials or reduced adoption fees. We love every animal that we take care of, but nothing can compare to a forever family and home.Adult cats that are fully vetted will be offered for adoption on weekends at this busy Gurnee Pet Supplies Plus. Since the cats are fully vaccinated, spay/neutered and microchipped, the adopter will be able to take their new pet home with them that very day. The selection at the Gurnee adoption center will be the same healthy, friendly and loving selection as is offered at the Riverwoods animal shelter. As volunteers are trained, look for adoption days and hours to be expanded to full time. Volunteers Needed: Orphans is currently looking for volunteers who are true cat lovers and who are interested in working hands on with the cats at the Gurnee store. These volunteers will be responsible for assisting with daily feeding, caring, cleaning and introducing the cats to potential adopters.
If you are a cat lover and interested in becoming involved with Orphans and our new cat adoption center, contact the shelter directly at 847-945-0235 and ask for Pam. This is a great opportunity for you to make a difference for the stray and abandoned cats of Lake County.A True Gentleman's Hunting DogBreeders of British Labradors, producing world class hunting dogs that have classic good looks, are instinctive and stylish in the field, and exhibit calm temperaments for a civil companion in your home.Great Dogs for Great People. .And we’ve accomplished it for 28 years. With unsurpassed genetic testing for abnormalities of our breeding stock, the best guarantee in the business, a keen eye for matching blood lines and a laser-like focus on customer service, we commit considerable time, resources and experience each day, each month, each year on the further development of the best British Labradors in the world.Dogs with unsurpassed health, athleticism and vigor in the field, yet possess calm temperaments for easy training and control.

She is very eager to please, learns very quickly, and she is very very gentle. She has the softest mouth I have ever seen on a dog. She has always been great with kids, and she is nice to have in the house. She is quiet, like Java was.
Labrador Education And Rescue Network (L.E.A.R.N.) is an ALL VOLUNTEER non-profit 501(c)3 organization committed to placing abandoned and unwanted Labrador Retrievers in new homes. L.E.A.R.N. serves Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin. L.E.A.R.N. also concentrates on educating adopters and the public on the importance of spaying/neutering, training and the humane treatment of dogs. Why Do Labs Enter Into Rescue? Labrador Retrievers come into Rescue for various reasons. Some of the more common reasons are: The owner no longer wants their Lab. The owner’s life changes, and they are no longer able to care for their Lab. Whatever the reason, L.E.A.R.N. is dedicated to giving these lovable dogs a new start and finding them a suitable forever home. What Happens After Labs Enter Rescue? Labs in need of a new home are evaluated before being brought into L.E.A.R.N. and then placed into one of our foster homes. While in foster care, L.E.A.R.N. takes care of any needed vetting (shots, heartworm testing, spaying/neutering, etc.), evaluates the training the Lab has or needs and determines the kind of home best suited for the Lab.
After a Lab has been in foster care for a couple of weeks, we begin the process of finding them a forever home. Does it Cost Money to Adopt from L.E.A.R.N? Adoption fees help us pay for necessary medical expenses. Our adoption fees are listed on our Adoption Fees page. We are an ALL VOLUNTEER organization that is also non-profit 501(c)3. All donations and adoption fees goes towards the veterinary bills, no one gets paid for the work that they do. How Do I Adopt a Lab from L.E.A.R.N? Visit our Adoption Process page for information on how you and your family can adopt a Lab through L.E.A.R.N. We take longer to place our Labs in a home because we are working to insure a successful adoption for our dogs who are our priority. Given this, please understand that it could take a several months, even longer the more specific you are, for us to find the right match between you and a new Lab. We are an ALL VOLUNTEER organization, so we are working on our free time, we don't get paid for this.
