In 2008 I finally got my first English style Labrador, Oscar, after I lost my 17.5 year old mutt, Buddy. Oscar was brought into our home to be a pet and a wonderful pet he is. In 2010 it was time to get Oscar a younger playmate, so I was off to Deep Run Retrievers to pick up his sister, Liberty. Liberty picked me that day and what I didn’t know at that moment was that Liberty had big plans of becoming a show dog! So here we are today, hooked on the world of showing dogs! We are also looking forward to participating in Rally events and therapy dog training. I can’t thank my family and friends enough for all of their support and guidance in our new adventure. My in-laws Eric and Trudy Soneson of Prospect Labradors, Gwen & Pat of Whispering Labs in Belgium, and Shannon White, our first handling instructor, just to name a few. My litters are bred with intentions of keeping something for myself and all puppies sold will be sold with an AKC limited registration, which means puppies cannot be bred or shown in conformation events, but may still participate in hunt tests, agility, obedience and other performance events. My Labradors are all fed a raw diet and I follow Dr. Jean Dodds’ shot protocol. I am a member of the Labrador Retriever Club of the Potomac and the Labrador Club of Scotland. Do not be fooled by breeders trying to sell Labradors any color other than Black, Yellow or Chocolate. They are not pure bred Labrador Retrievers. Darla would make a wonderful companion. She loves her humans and is always close by. Darla settles well in the home and she likes to curl up by your feet. If allowed, she will sit with you on the couch with her head in your lap and most definitely sleep in your bed, if allowed. Darla plays well with other dogs and is cat friendly. Darla does seem to enjoy chickens. She believes they are great fun to chase and it's even better if you catch them. M took me to the vet today. I was so darn excited about all the other dogs and people that I c...ouldn't control my playful jubilance. She couldn't even walk me into the room, a big burly tech vet guy had to pick me up and carry me back to the room. FM said it was pretty embarrassing but she knows I have potential. (Whatever that means). The good news is, I have a clean bill of health. I get to go back next week and get neutered and get some pins removed from an old surgery that have slipped. FM said it won't be as much fun as today but I love to go in the car, so I don't care. She also said I'm story worthy, so she will be posting more for sure!
