The laws protect responsible pet owners and provide processes for regulating irresponsible pet owners. Residents must ensure their animal keeping, (regardless of the animal), does not cause human or environmental harm or cause nuisance at any time.To learn more about the local laws, refer to the following documents:Mandatory registration of cats was introduced by Logan City Council, 8 August 2014, by amendment of Local Law 4 (Animal Management) 2002 and Subordinate Local Law 4.1 (Animal Management) 2002.Local Law 4 (Animal Management) 2002 and Subordinate Local Law 4.1 (Animal Management) stipulates that all cats over the age of three months that reside within Logan City must be registered.  It is an offence not to register your cat/s.Owners are reminded that cats must be contained within the property by way of an enclosure.There are a variety of enclosures and specialised fencing options to keep cats enclosed.  All properties within Logan are approved to house 2 desexed cats.

Foster carers must be registered with and recognised by Council. Some of our terms and conditions mean you will need to bring ID, formal rental agreement from your landlord or real estate if renting, rates notice, and compatibility tests with other animals and family will be required.  

If your a home owner, please bring a copy of your current rates notice.  We may also want to do a property inspection prior to approving you to adopt. Make sure you know your local council regulations on dog ownership. We refer you to Local Law No 2 (Animal Management) 2011 in particular to fencing. "Dog owners are responsible for preventing their dogs from roaming and causing a nuisance. Suitable fenced enclosures are required to contain dogs on properties. The enclosure must be suitably constructed to prevent the animal from escaping". We may also need to do a check on your fences, vet references, and an interview process may be required for some of our animals. Prices begin at around $200 which includes vaccination, micro-chipping, worming and de-sexing for grown-up dogs. Another $200 is required for a puppy which will be refunded when you bring the puppy back for de-sexing. Ownership will not legally transfer to you until the puppy is returned for de-sexing. All the dogs and puppies you see below are currently staying with us at the Refuge.  

Please note that although our website is updated as soon as we adopt, there is a chance that the animal you may be interested in may have been adopted by the time you visit them on site. We cannot hold animals for you, so the sooner you visit us, the sooner you will have a wonderful friend to take home with you.
