The mission of the Humane Society of Lincoln County is to operate the Fayetteville/Lincoln County Animal Shelter with thoughtful compassion, promote lifetime placement for unwanted and abandoned pets, help to reduce the overpopulation of cats and dogs, educate the local community on responsible pet ownership, seek justice for animal cruelty offenders and insure the proper care and humane treatment of all animals. The Society was formed in 1985 by people distressed over the conditions at the local animal pound and concerned about the needs of orphaned, neglected and abused animals in the city and county. At that time, the Society took over the operation of an Animal Shelter and the investigation of all animal cruelty cases. This is work which we continue to do. Your participation is vital to our mission.

Please join our fast growing list of members. Annual dues are $35 and that (and our fund raisers) help offset the tremendous cost of running the shelter. The greater the enrollment, the louder our voice in defense of all animals. . . Due to the large turnover at our shelter, we have many animals that are not listed on Petfinder.

Could you provide a FOSTER HOME for a special animal? Sometimes we have newborn's, or sick animals that would be adoptable if they just had a few weeks of individual care, in a loving home. We also need foster homes for a short time stay, while the animal is waiting for transport to a rescue. If you could provide this service, or know someone that can, please Email or call the Shelter for more information. Mama Mia is a 6 year old Japanese Chin who is 5 pounds & 6 inches tall. Please check out his adoption summary and see if he is the right match for you and your family... Meet Rambler, a 2 year old neutered male Shepherd mix who is looking for his forever home. Mr Rambler has a famous following around town for being the "dog who could not be caught". He has been running around Lincoln City for the past few months and making friends along the way who fed him and wanted to l...Finally he was leashed up and given a warm bed, 2 square meals a day, and a safe place to lay his head. Rambler is a super friendly and loving guy who needs a new and stable home who can keep him safe and give him the life he deserves.

He is an expert fence climber and escape artist who will need constant supervision and a watchful eye so he doesn't run off. A leash is a must with this young man for obvious reasons. Also he needs some work walking on a leash as he has not had too much experience in that department. He has met a few other dogs here at the Shelter and did well, but would need to meet any other housemates to make sure it would be a good match. If you are looking for your new family member, and you have the time and resources to give this pup the life he deserves, then please come to the Shelter to meet Rambler. The fee to adopt Rambler is $100 *All adoption candidates have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, flea treated and wormed! Adoptions include a free veterinary exam, one year license, two one-hour training sessions with Dog E University, and a bag of food from the Feed Corral. If you have other dogs or small children, we ask they come for the meet and greet; dogs in the home must be current on their rabies vaccination, and licensed with the shelter;

and if you rent, we need landlord permission for the adoption by either phone, email, or copy of a rental agreement. You may place an animal on hold for a fee of $5.00 per day for up to one week at the shelter or by phone. Phone messages will be returned in the order they are received. You may reach us at 541-265-6610 x 6 or lcanimalshelter@co.lincoln.or.us for more information. ANIMAL CARE SPECIALIST PART-TIMELincoln County Animal ShelterBuddy has been at the shelter for two months and two days waiting for a family to love. He knows basic commands and adores playing ball! He's a two-year old pit/boxer who wants to be your one and only pet. Are you his special someone? <3Lincoln County Animal Shelter added 2 new photos.We are looking for the perfect home for Sam and Dean. These two beauties take awhile to adjust to new situations and are a bit overwhelmed with lots of visitors. They seek affection, but don't like to be picked up, and will bite when they're not happy. These boys came from a home and we think will do fine in a home, but will need a special someone who understands and respects their boundaries (a home without kids will be best to keep everyone safe). They love spending time in their outdoor catio, so they would be very happy as indoor/outdoor or barn cats. If you have a space in your heart for these two special boys, please come visit the shelter.
