There are certain requirements you need to have to be a future sphynx owner.  They like it hot around 70 degrees farenheit.  Some will tolerate clothing others will not.  They require bathing and honestly all of our cats have no issues at all with their bath time.  Their ears need cleaning and their nails need trimming making them more doglike in maintenance than a cat but this extra care is what makes them more personable.  They have a higher metabolism so they eat more and poop more.  We feed ours  kitten food throughout their lives we do give cans to ours and cooked meats.  If interested in kittens please let us know and I will continue to add to this page.The requested URL /?p=breed was not found on this server.We hope you love our Sphynx family as much as we do.  Our goal is to find wonderful, loving, forever homes for all of our kittens. General InformationWe are a consortium of dedicated sphynx owners and lovers, located all over the United States. We volunteer our time, resources and finances to help with the transport, fostering, treatment, care, and rehoming of sphynx in need. We also happily share information of and with other rescue organizations and individuals who are like minded in putting the welfare of sphynx first.MissionRecently, too many sphynx have been unnecessarily destroyed at 'shelters'. SOAR was conceived with the idea of rescue and foster in mind, a source of centralized information, and a bridge to linking sphynx in need to their final, forever homes. This page is currently a database for information and links to sphynx needing homes and care, either through other rescues or individuals that may or may not be directly affiliated with SOAR. While SOAR is itself still in its infancy as a non-profit organization, we are committed to helping those who are endeavoring to protect, foster, and care for sphynx in need.

SOAR does not necessarily endorse a particular breeder, individual, rescue organization, etc... however, we do strongly advocate ethical breeding practices, and encourage responsible pet ownership. Please remember friends, a 'rescue' sphynx is not an avenue for a 'cheap' specialty cat; aside from rehoming situations for retired breeding cats, often these kitties have been in poor health or have been neglected, and will likely have special needs for the rest of their lives. It will take a determined, patient, and extremely caring individual who is willing to provide a nurturing, loving, forever home for these precious creatures. Sphynx ownership, under even the best of circumstances, is a huge responsibilty to undertake, and we encourage all to educate themselves about the breed, the risks of HCM and importance of annual scanning, in addition to proper general maintenance, grooming & care. A sphynx will affect your life in a unique way and those of us who are blessed to care for these incredible cats are forever touched.
