Best Thrift Store425 Magazine - 2016Best Consignment Store/Best of RedmondRedmond Reporter - 2014Written As someone who recently moved to Capitol Hill with no previous furniture, cost was a major factor in putting together my new home since I was about to start paying notoriously high rent. My roommate and I wanted modern furniture but we wanted something more original than the standard Ikea furniture. We turned to Yelp and discovered some great furniture stores.
The first one was the Kasala Outlet near Georgetown. The furniture was trendy, modern, and similar to the products you would find at Kasala but the price point was much, much lower. We bought the L-shaped couch below for merely $499 (original price around $1600)! The second store I recommend is a hole-in-the-wall furniture shop called John & John Used Furniture on Summit Ave on Capitol Hill (although I must warn you that when you walk in, it is a small room with furniture crammed with no real organization.) The owner John is always bringing in new items and the inventory is always changing. I bought a mint condition full-sized mattress for about $90 and he charges only $10 for local delivery. It's a great small place to peruse if there is something specific you are looking for.We also found some great items at Ross, Marshall's, T.J. Maxx, and World Market.WrittenCommunity Warehouse is always in need of mattresses (especially twin), dressers and kitchen items. We also welcome donations of gently-used furniture and household goods.
