Recently, I have been getting lots of questions about the striped drapes in our living room so I thought I would talk a bit more about them today.  When I saw them in TJ Maxx, I thought they would be perfect for my youngest boy's room.  They cost just under $30 for the pair and I left the store a happy camper.  I have had my eye out for striped drapes for a while now.  They also had a pair that was khaki and white, but I liked the gray better for his room.  When I brought them home, I thought maybe I would try them out in the living room for a couple of weeks because I was craving some change in there.  Here they are in our summer living room. How to Use Rit Color Remover Rit Color Remover is used primarily to remove or reduce color from fabric prior to dyeing with Rit Dye. It reduces the color to an off-white or cream color, creating a clean, even base color for dyeing. The stovetop method is the most effective at removing color, maintaining a constant simmer throughout the process. Some fabrics lose their color in as fast as 10 minutes, others can take an hour or two to achieve a cream color. Light color changes, such as brightening or removing stains from white fabrics, can be achieved using Color Remover in a washing machine. Color Remover will not remove the pattern or print from a fabric or the indigo dye from denim. Note: To use Color Remover in a sink or dishpan, follow these instructions. Just heat water on top of stove and transfer to sink or bucket. (Rinsing immediately in cold water may set creases.) Squeeze gently to remove excess water. Rewash items with detergent and rinse. Item is ready to be dyed with Rit powder or liquid dye. Prewash item as usual. Remove but do not dry. Select hottest water safe for fabric. Choose appropriate wash cycle and water level for load size. Carefully add Color Remover, pouring just above water level, as washer is filling. Use with adequate ventilation.) After agitation begins, return items to washer.
