White And Khaki Striped Curtains

Recently, I have been getting lots of questions about the striped drapes in our living room so I thought I would talk a bit more about them today.  When I saw them in TJ Maxx, I thought they would be perfect for my youngest boy's room.  They cost just under $30 for the pair and I left the store a happy camper.  I have had my eye out for striped drapes for a while now.  They also had a pair that was khaki and white, but I liked the gray better for his room.  When I brought them home, I thought maybe I would try them out in the living room for a couple of weeks because I was craving some change in there.  Here they are in our summer living room. I realize that not everybody has a TJ Maxx locally and even if you do, it is definitely hit or miss whether you will find a particular item.  I found very similar drapes online at Crate and Barrel. Stripes can be the foundation of any good interior design. They have the ability to make ceilings look taller and furniture appear more crisp and high-end. Silk designer fabric stripes can add Old World elegance to sofas, ottomans and chaises, while cotton blends grant a sporty or nautical ease to beach homes, family living rooms and patio furniture. When paired with our solids or contrasting prints, stripes will make anything look dynamic. Even a single striped pillow tossed on a couch or bed will create a focal point in a room, drawing the eye in. How to Use Rit Color Remover Rit Color Remover is used primarily to remove or reduce color from fabric prior to dyeing with Rit Dye. It reduces the color to an off-white or cream color, creating a clean, even base color for dyeing. Color Remover is suitable for use on most washable fabrics, including cotton, linen, rayon, silk, and nylon. It may have a limited effect on polyester, depending upon how it was dyed commercially. Color Remover is a non-chlorine, reductive type of bleach that will not damage or deteriorate washable fabrics as chlorine bleach will.
The stovetop method is the most effective at removing color, maintaining a constant simmer throughout the process. Some fabrics lose their color in as fast as 10 minutes, others can take an hour or two to achieve a cream color. Light color changes, such as brightening or removing stains from white fabrics, can be achieved using Color Remover in a washing machine.
