He was wearing a collar with a Houston, TX Rabies Tag issued in 2013. Attempts made by the shelter to contact previous owners, via information from that tag, were unsuccessful. Boxer Luv continues to attempt contact and, so far, have not received a response. Most importantly, at this point..., is that he's out of the shelter and out of harms way. We are trying to contact listed owners from that 2013 tag and we need to get to know him and make sure he's healthy before making him available.

Gert needed a place to hang when his owner passed away and Boxer Luv stepped up to help him out. Gert is a big squishy boy looking for a great home to be loved in. He is a little timid at first but give him some time to warm up and he will be doing Boxer burns before you know it. He enjoys hanging out with is Boxer foster sister although not so much other male dogs. Gert is a pretty chill guy so some light exercise will keep ...him happy and fit. Gert also knows lots of cues and will show them all off to you for treats. What an incredibly busy end to the summer season in Arizona. It doesn't truly end, for us, for another week or so given the Labor Day Holiday weekend and what always happens here on every long holiday weekend. Our shelters are just packed with homeless Boxers. We are sorting it all out, prioritizing and working hard to find a way to help as many that will need us as possible.

That's 51 new Boxers rescued by BLR in the month of August. Tha...t's just what came in from August 1st to August 31st. Sadly, we're watching over 21 more, that we know of, that are sitting stray - or that have been surrendered - to shelters in Maricopa County, Pinal County, Pima County shelters as well as others in Douglas and Nogales. We'll do what we can. We'll have new rescue announcements as soon as our intake team can manage them. They're busy working shelters and finding space in our rescue. Thankfully, our Placement and Foster Teams have been doing an awesome job finding homes for all that need them. You've seen all the recent adoption announcements....
