Age 18-24 25-34 35-44 45-54 55-64 65 and older Gender Male Female We have area rugs, two messy kids, a big dog, and two cats (one of whom likes to roll around in the dirt and then proceeds to do the same on our rugs). This is the third brand we've purchased with Hoover and Bissel being the others and this is by far the most sturdy plastic cleaner we have ever gotten. The others had design flaws that made it easy to get broken. Other than buying one of the professional grade rug doctor machines that you can also rent, you can't get better than this. The only complaint was that the tank for clean water and detergent wasn't very big (probably to allow you to use hot water consistently). The rugs were dry within minutes after use which was amazing! The clean job was great. We did have issues with one rug but it was because of the kind it was and how it was weaved. To be fair we have only had the opportunity to use it on two of our rugs, but I really trust the rug doctor brand. Yes () No ()  Report Yes () No () I own rental properties, and have dogs in my home.
I loan the machine out to renters for them to use, and of course they don't treat things the way I do. The machine is tough, and has an amazing amount of suction. If you try to push the machine instead of pulling, it will lift the carpet up. It does a great job and the upholstery tool is easy to use and very effective. I've owned other brands and types, and this machine is absolutely the best that I've owned. It is virtually identical to the machines that the big box stores rent out, with the exception that it has more plastic parts. Only downside is that the suction head is not easily removable. Not a huge issue, when finished with it or when a renter has returned it, I lay it on it's side and use a garden hose to spray back up into the head to get any remaining dirt and hair out of it. Yes () No (2)  Report Yes () No (2) I planned to rent a carpet cleaner this morning but decided to purchase this one instead. I was very impressed with how well it cleans. In fact it performed as well as any machine I've rented in the past but its not as big and bulky.
It's very easy to use and more importantly does a fantastic job. The dirty water is easy to dump. It's not hard to clean up after using it. The hand held brush attachment is nothing special but it works okay when I cleaned my stairway. The only negative things I have to say are that I think the way the attachment is held on the machine is kind of cheap and flimsy. Hose wraps and wand snaps fit into the plastic carrier but for storage after using it I just used the long twist ties from packaging to keep everything in place. Clean water leaks out the attachment port when you fill tank but once you get used to filling it you can avoid dripping water all over prior to installing in place for use. I would recommend this machine and look forward to keeping my carpets clean. Yes--you can't SEE the water level.
2) Way WORSE: the suction on the box says 75% more. Homes For Sale In Lagrange North CarolinaMy rugs felt like wet grass for two days. T Shirt AgricoleI thought I did something wrong and went online. Multi Colored Dachshund Puppies For SaleFound reviews from professionals that call this the "rug soaker." I have owned the Hoover and now this (which was returned to Walmart, where I got a full refund). I have seen the infomercials for this unit. Do NOT believe those reviews. The water distribution *may* be slightly better than the Hoover...so it would be really great if the SUCTION was slightly better. Ran furnace in humid 80+ degree June weather, and ran fans, just to get the rugs to dry. I would NOT recommend this to anyone--particularly to anyone who doesn't have time to turn off the unit ever two minutes to see if the (very small) water tank needs more water.
Yes () No ()  Report Yes () No () I have owned several different brands of steam machines! With 5 children to now having a bunch of grandchildren, this is one dynamic machine! I love the construction of the machine and how strong the entire machine is. The tanks are very simple to get to and very easy to rinse out. The handle has several different levels and since i am in a wheelchair i find all these features to be very convenient for me not to mention the handle folds down on the machine for easy storage or to transport. The machine pretty much moves on its own while you are using the soap so you dont need a lot of strength. The power cord i swear is industrial grade and a lot thicker than any outdoor extension cord i have ever seen. Using the attachments are a breeze as well and i love how it all wraps up together. So nice and tidy. There is a carry handle between both tanks on the top which i find convenient as well. Overall this is one machine i think will last me for years and years.
When they say you get what you pay for, with this machine it is true. It is well worth the money. Yes () No ()  Report Yes () No () Bought it today and used it to clean my living room rug which is about an average size for a living room. It took me around an hour to do one room due to the amount of times that I had to refill the clean water and dump the dirty water. Two cycles of the clean water fills up the dirty water reservoir so I dumped the dirty reservoir approximately 5 times and had to refill the clean reservoir 10 times. While it did a good job, here are the pro's and con's: Pro's - Easy to assemble - Saw a noticeable difference between washed and dirty carpet - Removed most spots and severely lightened dark/deep spots Con's - Clean water reservoir is very small, have to refill often so it takes a long time to do one room. - The spout that connects the clean water reservoir to the machine leaks when removed so when it is refilled, it will leak when putting the cap back on and when carried back to the machine, even when held upside down due to the straw.
Because of this, I suspect that the clean water will leak through the machine to the rug when in use or not. If Rug Doctor would make the reservoirs bigger and the spout in the clean water reservoir not leak it would be a great machine. If you buy it, prepare for putting in a lot of work walking back and forth to the sink (Just about as much time as you will put in to clean the carpet). Yes (2) No (0)  Report Yes (2) No (0) Verified purchaser I have had Hoover, Bissell and now Rug Doctor. It is very easy to use. I think it will have less items that will break and go wrong. Hoover lasted me 2 years, Bissell last 4 years, so if I get 5 plus years out of Rug Docotor, I will be satisfied.
I need another review in 5 years. The only complaint is I wish the beater bar brushed the carpet at all times. It only moves when pressing the button for water/detergent. It sucks up water better than Hoover or Bissell. Hoover just flat out is the worst of them all (cheap cheap cheap). Bissell was good but I was constantly buying parts and finally was tired of fixing it. Rug Doctor is simple to clean and maintain which I hope makes it last longer. I take quality care if my vacs and steamers for longevity. I have 2 hairy 100 lb dogs and I use them all weekly. So far so good Rug Doctor! Yes () No (3)  Report Yes () No (3) I purchased this steam cleaner because my Bissle gave up the Ghost. I had just cleaned my carpet the week before with my Bissle and got it back out to do a couple spots. And the pump for the solution failed. I went online and looked at several different steam cleaners. This model was 100 dollars more but I got it home and cleaned a small area to test it out. The waste water was black.
