Cons Working out a way for other sales members to not swoop customers and steal commission. Advice to Management See above May 7, 2016 I worked at Furniture Fair (Less than a year) Pros Full time great hours bonuses daily meeting Cons They was housing sales they don't go by the book and everybody trains you a different way they don't even do a drug test and a lot of people is still in private information from customers Advice to Management You will never have anyone there unless you change the way you train everybody needs to be trying the same way Sep 21, 2015 I have been working at Furniture Fair full-time Pros Great pay, vacation, and benefits.
Cons Does not treat customers right with horrible follow up service Advice to Management Look for another job. The community relies on everyone sharing – Add Anonymous Review Jul 8, 2015 I have been working at Furniture Fair full-time (More than 10 years) Pros Friendly co-workers, the chance to use my inter-personal friendly attitude with customers as well as with my fellow co-workers. Personal strength training with heavy furniture...and of course, the feeling of accomplishment I get at the end of a long, hard day, knowing that customers will receive their furniture in pristine condition Cons Varied work hours, hot weather, aches pains from lifting heavy furniture, angry customers for various reasons and on my feet all day... Advice to Management More breaks during the day, one hour lunch, instead of only thirty minutes, pay raises for a job well done. Jul 17, 2015 I have been working at Furniture Fair full-time (More than a year) Pros Designing for clients and making them happy Cons commission is low and managing team Advice to Management listen to what your employees say and need Jul 29, 2015 I worked at Furniture Fair full-time (More than a year) Pros You have some benefits there, but that's it Cons Upper management thinks they can do no wrong.
Not open to hearing employee feedback. Agree with others: there are a couple top sales people put in the right stores but overall, it's a minimum wage job. When you occasionally make commission, THEY MAKE YOU PAY IT BACK on weeks where you don't make commission! If that's all you do, I guess that's fine but when you have all other types of responsibilities that take you off the sales floor, that's totally unfair. Get a job at walmart, it will pay better. Advice to Management LISTEN to employees; it seems they throw the yearly feedback surveys in the garbage because nothing changes. You don't know everything, believe me. That's why there are so many people drinking on the job - it's a terrible environment to work in. Store managers take sales away from the commission sales people which is also unfair. Sep 20, 2014 Pros You get to look nice every day. The coworkers are fun to talk to. It feels great when... or if you make a sale. Cons There is a lot of corrupt activity. Some people dissappear without any warning and you can only assume they've been fired and wonder if you will be next.
They have people employed there for long periods of time and those are their top sellers, however they circle through newbies Constantly. The management is disorganized and rightfully so because there is too much for them to do. The worst part... they will eventually sit you down and tell you that you are not making enough in sales to earn more than minimum wage and you won't ever be able to overcome it. Then... they send you home, making you think they've fired you but what they are really trying to get you to do is resign so they can choose to not pay you the rest of the commission on the sales that have not yet been delivered. Just avoid this place all together. Advice to Management Have a heart. Oct 7, 2013 I have been working at Furniture Fair full-time (More than 5 years) Pros Co workers are really great Cons They need to get more customers in the door Advice to Management Advertise more Dec 10, 2010 Helpful (2) Pros If you absolutely can not find work anywhere else...At least their checks don't bounce...
Cons 25 salespeople on an 80,000 sq. ft. sales floor in an extremely competitive environment, where bloodletting is encouraged by upper management. aka "shark tank" Advice to Management Keep doing what you are doing. It seems to be working well for you and the 5 salespeople that have been there for over 20 years. After all, newbie blood has feed you well so far. Oct 14, 2009 Pros It's a clean job and you always look nice because you are professionally dressed. When customers are not in the store (most of the time it's void of customers) you can read a book or newspaper, call friends or family on your cell or even on their phone, go to nearby stores conveniently, or if you are favored there, you can go to Bojangles without clocking out then return and spend an indefinite time eating it--again, if you are favored. I'm not a big sports fan so I had to watch for customers while the others got to watch the ball games (no customers). You got 2 paid holidays off but they took it away from you by cutting hours.
We often had to take less than 40 hours because there were no customers. They seemed to be pretty good about leaving if you got sick or had to go to a doctor's appointment if at least two others were on duty. The manager was very young then they got a much older one. You earned sick pay gradually. Cons They advertise Competitive Pay- but it's next to minimum wage $7 hour. You could try for commission but it was extremely hard to achieve, and if anything went wrong, you didn't get it. Like, if the order didn't come in on time. We always had the feeling we would be sabotaged anyway. Only one person kept trying to get it, but he had been there a long time and had a lot of family and friends and old customers to ask for him. Plus, he was "given" a lot of sales he didn't earn and stole customers from 3-4 other sales people I was told. They advertise Insurance Coverage, but when I heard it, it was a joke. It was a boring job, and I was ashamed to be there. They had three prices on merchandise: a highly inflated price, their advertised price, and if the item was on sale, a third price which was a percentage of the highly inflated price.
